Apple Valley Woodturners

A Chapter of the American Association of Woodturners

Welcome to the Apple Valley Woodturners!

Located in Winchester, VA, we are the Shenandoah Valley Area group that meets regularly to share their enthusiasm about all things related to woodturning and to have some fun along the way.

May’s Meeting

Thirty-eight members and guests turned out to watch this months guest demonstrator, Nick Cook.  Prior to his demonstration, a short business meeting covered the following items and  announcements:

The July meeting will feature Harriet Maloney conducting a ladies-only hands-on workshop.

The National Symposium is still looking for all kinds of help at Richmond - gofers, camera operators, instant gallery, etc.

Ken Darr moved that AVW buy tickets for a benefit raffle to be held at the AAW.  Symposium and any equipment that we might win become the property of the club.  The motion was seconded and approved.

Mike Adriano sent an e-mail to club members about walnut logs available at Plains, VA, free to any woodworker who wants them.

The new Rockler Store at McFarlands Mill was open today.

Turnings for Show and Tell were brought by Tim Gregory, Gene Gillespie, Don Maloney, Harriet Maloney, George Baker, and Jim Raine.

Guests included Eugene Williams, Dan Seymour, and Bill Burslem.  New members joining today were Bill Calvert, Jack Ruckman, and Jack McAllister.

Raffle winners were Bill Headly, Bill Calvert, Elvin Rose, and Charles Blackman.
